The CWI Children's Epoch Publishing House


Children's Epoch, the reading material presented by China Welfare institution for children, is first established by Mme. Soong Ching Ling, the former honorary chairman of China. In Apr.1 1950, Mme. Soong Ching Ling set up < Children's Epoch>, this first comprehensive reading material for children after the foundation of People's Republic of China. She also composed beginning words for it by herself indicating its gist to provide children with healthy reading materials to inspire their intelligence, to foster the temperament and to develop them into well-educated people for country's future.

After the birth of <Children's Epoch>, Mme. Soong was always caring about it; she composed ten articles and four inscriptions, and inscribed the name of it by herself. <Children's Epoch> mergers literature, science and entertainment together, and thus has been the children's best friend from one generation to another for the last half century.

In June.1 1984, Children's Epoch set up the first professional scientific newspaper in China--<Student's Computer World> and Mr. Deng Xiaoping inscribed the name for it. In Oct.1985, Children's Epoch issued another publication affording children humor and happiness--<Haha Magazine> At the beginning of this new century, <Children's Epoch > changed back to a half-monthly publication to carry out Ms. Song's educational idea better ---- "to give the most precious to the children". And the magazine for the latter half month is < Happy Baby>, aimed deliberately at the ante-school children. <Happy Baby> took advantage of the experience on ante-school education of China Welfare Institution and soon received a positive confirmation and welcome from the market.
