Shanghai Soong Ching Ling Foundation held the charity dancing party titled of “Care for life, the same wish from the people of Cross-Straits” with the other charity organizations to raise fund for “Life Project” ( The Safety Project for Women and Babies ) on the night of Jan. 22nd. This is also commemorative activity of Madam Soong’s 112th Birthday. More than 300 warm-hearted people of Cross-Straits attended the party. Mr. Lu Ping, Vice Chairman of China Welfare Institute, Mrs. Xie Lijuan and Mr. Song Yiqiao, Vice Chairman of Shanghai Municipal Committee of Chinese Political Consultative Conference, Mrs. Chen Tiedi, President of Shanghai Charity Foudation and the other VIP attended the party.
Shanghai Soong Ching Ling Foundation set up the “Life Project” in accordance with the weak basis of maternity and child hygiene and the high mortality of pregnant or lying-in women and baby in the western area of China, aiming to improve the living condition of women and children of western poverty area. After 3 years hard working, Shanghai Soong Ching Ling Foundation had already built a health center for women and children, added 46 medical instruments for the health center in TaiJiang county and SanKeShu county, trained 200 local medical staff, 10 midwife, aided 400 pregnant women to have hospital-childrenbirth. This charity dancing party totally raised 2400 thousands RMB, minus the cost, it will all be used as the special fund of “Life Project”, further improve the medical condition in poverty area
