SKY of Aspirations
----With Children’s Best Wishes
On the afternoon of March 20, 2004, the activity of SKY of Aspirations was held in China Welfare Institute Children’s Palace. The Children Hall is full of children’s cheerful chatting and laughing. Mrs. Xu Dexin, Vice Chairman of China Welfare Institute, Mrs. Wu Jinlan, vice director of Shanghai Foreign Affairs Office, Mr. Lgnacio Romer, vice-consul of Spain and Mr. Roca, director of foreign affairs office of Organizing Committee of International Relations Forum Barcelona attended the event. They delivered speeches on hoping the event consummation. After the excellent performance of Little Companion Art troupe, the honorable guests clustered round by hundred children went to hang the small talismans on the nets (SKY of Aspiration), such as the lucky star, China knot, etc.

The Universal Forum of Culture, a new event with a worldwide scope, will take place in Barcelona from May 9 to September 26. The Forum event expects the participation of five million visitors, who will contribute to this unprecedented attempt to put into practice good ideas to create a world that is more just, more prosperous and more peaceful. The SKY of Aspiration is one of the most important events of the Forum. The SKY is made up of 5,000 square meters of multicolored nets representing the oceans and continents of the world. Eight sections of this sky will represent the eight cities participating in the project. These nets will be covered with the talismans contributed by the people of those eight cities. Finally the SKY with the talismans will arrive in Barcelona, and it will be installed in the area of the Forum.

As one of the eight cities, the place of the activity of SKY of Aspiration was chose in China Welfare Institute Children’s Palace. The best wishes of Chinese children will fly to Barcelona, with the wishes of foreign children, expect the future of the world will be more just, more prosperous and more peaceful. 13 boys and girls will be chose as the delegates of China to attend the event in Barcelona, they will exchange the idea with foreign children on the topic of continuous development, multi-culture and peaceful condition.
