Shanghai International Children’s Cultural & Art Festival

With approval of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China, the 2004 Shanghai International Children’s Cultural and Art Festival is to be held from July 24 to 31, 2004. It has been hold successfully three times since 1994.It has won good reputation among the worldwide children’s art and cultural field.

The leaders of our country have been concerned with this Festival. Former Vice Premier Li Lan Qin gave his inscription for congratulating the festival be successfully held. The Festival is also followed with interests by leaders of government, local officials and media in different countries.

About 3,000 children of 60 Children’s art troupes and professional children’s drama troupes from nearly 20 countries such as Australia, Cuba, Canada, Denmark, Ecuador, Germany, Hungary, Switzerland, Japan, Korea, South Africa, United States, China Hong Kong, China Tai Wan and many provinces of China will join the Festival.

As it is one of the internationalized children’s art and cultural event, many different kinds of featured activities will be held during the festival. The opening ceremony will be full of hilarity. The luck star will be chosen from the whole world. The International Children’s Forum will provide a stage for children where they may talk about the fashionable topics of the world. The Shanghai Children’s Expo will get-together plenty of manufacturer and supplier, that will bring first-class cultural, art and educational products for children. The presentation of professional children’s dramas will bring much joy to children. The highly artistic music and dance will be a reflection of each country’s cultural background. Thousands of Chinese children including from Taiwan will give audience a grand flute performance. All those wonderful activities will be ended with a sentimentally and memorable closing ceremony. It was a unique stage upon which children of different languages; different complexion and different cultural backgrounds are able to come together in the spirit of understanding, friendship, and look toward the new peaceful world.

CCTV, Shanghai Cultural Media Group and TV stations from different provinces will living broadcast or rebroadcast the activities of the Festival. Jie Fang Daily, Wen Hui Daily, Xin-ming Evening News, East day web site and nearly hundred of the media will also report the Festival.

The festival will be hold continually in Hungary in addition to all the activities in Shanghai from August 3rd to August 9th. This is the first time the festival to be held in foreign country.
