* In the International Division of the Kindergarten there are more than 200 children from over thirty different countries of the world and Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macao. They bring here with them different cultures and customs.
* Here there are teachers of high quality from Australia, the United States of America, Canada, the United Kingdom, Netherlands, Belgium and Israel. They bring here with them various advanced education philosophies under different cultural backgrounds.
* The parents coming from different nationalities, cultures and different occupations take an active part in the management of the Kindergarten and have a close relationship with the school in the education of the children.
* The positive advantages of cultural and linguistic diversity are promoted throughout the whole curriculum that is a blend of the best of Eastern and Western educational philosophy and practice. The Kindergarten provides an ideal setting for international and multicultural education.
The international Division of Soong Ching Ling Kindergarten is like a “small global village” where the children play, learn, and live together in an environment that is multi-cultural and full of love. The Kindergarten lay a firm foundation for the children to become talented and to develop a wide field of vision, active thinking and broad-mindness.

2. Curriculum
English-Chinese bilingual instruction, 70% : 30%. Thus, the main language used in the classroom is English, whilst Chinese is used for Chinese circle time, incidental speech during the day, and daily Chinese lessons for the 5-6 year olds.
The curriculum is child-centered, and based on the thematic approach with integrated learning activities. There is a choice of two programs;
* Early childhood Education (ECE)
* Montessori
The aims of the curriculum are to support and extend children’s development in a harmonious program which promotes growth and education in all areas; cognition, socialization, physical development and creativity. The curriculum is designed around distinct ‘Areas of Experience” with some variations according to the different ages and teaching program, e.g. 2-3year olds, E.C.E. 3-6 year olds, or Montessori 3-5 year olds. The curriculum fits the needs of the individual child.
The curriculum has progression and continuity for 2-6 year olds. From the curriculum, teachers make plans using topics or themes to capitalize on the children’s interests and experiences. On the basis of children’s play and interests, instructional methods are chosen or designed to stimulate children’s curiosity, imagination and logical thinking. Thus, learning is through first-handed and sensory experience. Teachers observe, record and report on children’s progress.
Teachers organize educational visits or field-trips for additional experience and enjoyment.
A whole language approach and a phonic programs are introduced to teach reading.
