Camphor Tree is the tree Mme. Soong Ching Ling liked very much. Its solidity and elegance symbolize the great characters of Mme. Soong. The inauguration of Soong Ching Ling Camphor Tree Award (the former name is China Welfare Institute Women and Children Cause Camphor Tree Award) is to commemorate Mme. Soong, the honorary chairman of People’s Republic of China, to inherit and develop the maternity and child health care and children’s work that Mme. Soong dedicated to in all her lifetime.
Those who have been engaged in the work of maternity and child health care, children’s education, culture, sports, scientific researches and have made outstanding contributions to those undertakings can be awarded, regardless of nationality, religious belief, Party, profession and sex.
The fund of the Award is from the fund that social personages donated to China Welfare Institute.
