Peng Peiyun

  Peng Peiyun, female, born in December 1929, is Honarary Chairman of the All-China Women’s Federation.
   From 1993 to 1998, Peng Peiyun was a Director of the State Council of Women and Children’s Committee. From 1998 to 2003, she served as Vice Chairman of Standing Committee of National People’s Congress and Chairman of the All-China Women’s Federation. As the leader of the Party and the country, she paid close attention of the effort of laws and policies. When she was a Director of a Director of the State Council of Women and Children’s Committee, she coordinated and participated in the draft, formulation and amend of women and children’s laws, regulations and policies, made the work of safeguarding the rights of women and children standardization and legalization. As a Vice Chief Committeewomen of Vice Chairman of Standing Committee of National People’s Congress, promulgated several laws of guarantee the rights of women and children. After being a Chairman of the All-China Women’s Federation, she devoted herself to the promotion of legislation of the anti-trafficking women and children. In the year of 2001, the Federation had participated the inspection of the implementation of “The Stipulation of Prohibition of Using Child Labor” avoided the force labor of the trafficked children. Under her leadership, the Federation had organized and participated many bilateral and multilateral meetings, fulfilled international conventions, perfected the laws continuously.
   Peng Peiyun also attaches great importance of the existence, protection and development of women and children in the impoverished areas. Under her leadership, she stressed the death rate of pregnant women; the incidence of tetanus of new-born babies; the suffering of children’s malnutrition; the illiterate rate of women, organized the special inspection and analysis, through the experiments to highly improve the living standard, education and health protection situation in the impoverished areas.
   In order to encourage her achievements on the safeguarding the rights of women and children and the development of women and children’s cause. In 2004, she was awarded “the Special Contribution” by the United Nations.
