Children are the future of the world. The past three Shanghai International Children’s Cultural and Art Festival have demonstrated how easily children erase national boundaries and come together in the spirit of understanding and friendship. It was a good opportunity for young people to build new bridge of understanding while learning from each other. It was a unique stage upon which children from around the world can gather and look toward the new peaceful word together.
With approval of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China, the 2004 Shanghai International Children’s Cultural and Art Festival is to be held from July 24 to 31, 2004 in Shanghai, China.
The theme of the Art Festival is “ Peace • Friendship • Future”
The children’s art troupes from all over the world will be invited to participate in the Art Festival. The main focuses will be on children’s music and dace performances. The Art Festival will feature many kinds of activities including opening and closing ceremonies, children’s forum, children’s Expo, exchange performances, grand get together and sightseeing tours.
1. Children’s Art Troupes
1) Age of children participating in the Festival: 9 to 15 years old.
2) Children’s performance should be highly artistic music and dance reflecting each country’s cultural background.
3) Performance duration: 30minutes.

2. All troupes wishing to take part in 2004 Shanghai International Children’s Cultural and Art Festival must ensure that their registration form, a video tape of the proposed show, 4 color photos (3.5 X 5 inches) of the performance, photo of troupe leader as well as a congratulation letter from stat or local administrative leader arrive at the festival organizing committee before March 1st, 2004. An official letter confirming the status of your selection will be sent at the latest on March 31st, 2004.

3. The expenses of Art troupe’s international travel, board and lodging, local transportation will be paid by the participating art troupe. Each person will be charged US$50 per day for room, meal, sightseeing and transportation. Every 16th person will enjoy free of charge.

4. Dead line for applying for the festival is March 1st, 2004.
