During
her lifetime, Soong Ching Ling devoted very much attention
and energy for a healthy growing up of china's children.
She herself set up the China Welfare Institute (CWI),
which has become a fine example in maternity care and
children's welfare and culture and education.
Looking back to the past ten
years, the Shanghai Soong Ching Ling Foundation (SSCLF)
has been carrying on her spirit of caring for mothers
and children, working actively for support, from individuals
and organizations in China and abroad, with money, equipment,
techniques and information to China Welfare Institute
and children's welfare affairs in China's needy areas.
Good relations have been built with the Soong Ching Ling
Foundations of Japan and the United States, the Soong
Ching Ling Children's Foundation of Canada and other friendly
organizations of foreign countries. A11 of these resulted
in effective cooperation in a number of projects. In addition,
the Shanghai Soong Ching Ling Foundation has joined efforts
with schools and children's cultural organizations in
tens of countries and regions in international exchanges
of various kinds. When working for further friendship
with other countries, promoting unification of our motherland
and upholding the world peace, we've been enhancing mutual
understanding and friendship between the children in different
countries all over the world.
Children represent the future
of the world. It is our common goal to bring up children
to ones with lofty ideals, noble morality, vigorous health
and solid knowledge on sciences and culture. When Shanghai
is developing to an international culture of economy,
finance and trade, we are duty-bound to let children in
this city to have more opportunities to join in international
exchanges, So that they may understand the world more
and better. Also, we have to work continuously for developing
culture and education in needy places, and improving health
and cultural level of China's women and children.
The SSCLF would like to extend
the sincere respects and heartfelt gratitude to all individuals
and organizations in China and abroad who/which have been
and are offering solicitude and support to us.
Thanks in advance also to those
who will do the same. Let us make still greater efforts
for good health and happiness of women and children, as
well as for world lasting peace and prosperity.
