The award
was inaugurated in 1985 inheriting and developing maternity
and child health care and children's work that Soong Ching
Ling had been caring for and dedicating to in all here
lifetime. The award intended to encourages in a national
scope those personages who have been engaged in the work
of MCH care, children's education, culture, sports, scientific
researches for a long period of time and have made outstanding
contributions to those undertakings. The award is named
"camphor tree" in the light that Soong Ching
Ling liked the tree very much.
